Dyfi Donations 2019
Our yearly gathering for Dyfi Enduro helpers and marshals happened last Friday and it was great to see everyone and have the opportunity to thank them for all their efforts and support. We are hugely grateful to everyone who donates time and effort towards the event. Without these efforts we would not be able to make the event the success that it is. This year was particularly challenging in terms of planning as the Comedy Festival continues to grow and swallow up resources in town making staging the event more and more difficult. But all the efforts were worth it as the event was a truly memorable one with with dry and dusty trails on offer and a new route and finish that was a big hit with riders.
We are pleased to announce that the event this year raised £1500 for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team. Members of the team were on hand at the event to accept the cheque from event organisers. The team plays a vital role in keeping our riders safe on the day of the event and we thank them wholeheartedly for their valued efforts and contribution to the Dyfi Enduro.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to all those who donated and rode with ribbons in support of Prostate Cancer UK in memory of our dear friend Dai Speake. Dai who was a familiar friendly face running the Dyfi Enduro feed station for many years will be sorely missed by all of us.
With donations made at the event and a contribution from the event itself we were able to raise £1500 for Prostate Cancer UK and this was presented to Dai’s family.
We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone involved with the event, your efforts are really appreciated by us and everyone who rides and loves the event. Long may it continue!
This year we will continue to work with and support projects that benefit mountain biking and the local community so all our riders can give themselves a big pat on the back too. All that peddling plays its part in supporting the development of the local trail network and the provision and upkeep of the Mach Pump track.
We also need to say a big thank you to Huw Lewis Tyres who stepped in to help us provide bike washing facilities which despite our team’s valiant efforts proved to be a little under gunned for the number of riders. We apologise to all who got caught in the queue and send monster sized thanks to everyone at Huw Lewis for being so kind in welcoming to our muddy bikes and riders.
Thanks also to the lovely people at Anthony Motors for the loan of the support van that proved invaluable in carting event essential including the Dub-Cycle sound system about the course.
Finally we need to say a thanks to our good friends at Smith Optics UK for stepping in at the 11th hour to support our crazy plan to bring Mrs Whippy to the finish line, to Abi for the flags and support at the finish and to Neil and the others who were brave enough to ride the event. Thanks indeed!
It was an epic year with the route remix being a huge hit and being spoilt by such perfect trail conditions and that superb final finish on No.8.
Long live long rides – see you next year!
