FAT TYRE REVOLUTION joins Coed y Brenin Enduro
It’s always been our vision since first planning to expand the Coed y Brenin Enduro into a mini festival of mountain biking at Coed y Brenin, the UK’s first MTB trail centre. Today we are excited to announce that we’ve joined forces with the organisers of Fat Tyre Revolution to bring their planned celebration of classic mountain biking to become part of the Trek Coed y Brenin Enduro weekend.
This year marks an important anniversary for Coed y Brenin, it’s 25 years since the first way-marked trails opened here, 20 years since the opening of the original Red Bull trail (now known as Tarw du) and 10 years since the new visitor centre redevelopment and trail network expansion was opened. We wanted to celebrate this prestigious occasion with the biggest and best fun packed MTB weekend that Coed y Brenin has ever seen.
So today we are pleased to welcome the Fat Tyre Revolution to the Coed y Brenin Enduro weekend. The format has been changed a little and the date will now be Saturday 1st October but the spirit of the event remains, and more importantly there’ll be a bigger and better celebration for everyone.

FAT TYRE REVOLUTION
Dig out your best retro and classic MTB styles, get your race hat on and get ready to celebrate the Fat Tyre Revolution.
Race
The original RedBull route was launched with an off road time trial and we’ve decided to re-awaken this format for this year’s Fat Tyre Revolution although we have dispensed with the stopwatch and paper in favour of modern chip timing.
The event will consist of a single lap of the Tarw du trail (formerly know as the RedBull trail) with age category 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes for fastest male and female XC (best time over the whole course) plus, there will be 1st place prizes for men’s and women’s Descend (Fastest time from high point to finish) for each age category. There will also be a retrobike class that anyone riding a pre 1996 MTB can enter. There will be additional spot prizes for classic MTB and retro styling so get your classic MTB shredder look on and get ready to ride the UK’s first and best loved trail centre classic.
It’s a race, but with the friendly and fun competitive spirit that mountain biking is known for.
Anyone who rode in the original race 20 years ago automatically qualifies for a free entry so if you were there, get in touch. We’d love to round up as many of the original riders as we can.
Party
Saturday night sees the Fat Tyre Revolution Party and prize presentation at Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre, where there will be classic MTB movies, DJ and bar. The party will be your chance to kick-back, relax and chew the fat with mtb buddies new and old. We’ll be sharing some classic stories of Coed y Brenin and you can expect a few familiar faces from the heyday of the UK MTB scene.
You’ll find further details of the event over on our Coed y Brenin Enduro page and we’ll add more information as it becomes available.
Tickets are available now priced £15.
