Trek Coed y Brenin Enduro 2016
Entries are now open for the 2016 Coed y Brenin Enduro, and it’s likely to be a very special event this year. It’s 20 years since the opening of the first purpose built MTB trails at Coed y Brenin, 10 years since the opening of the new visitor centre and extended trail network.
Coed y Brenin was the first purpose built MTB trail facility in the UK and as such blazed a trail (excuse the pun) for the many that followed. A lot has happened in mountain biking in that time but the managed trail centre format has more than proved itself, with trail centres now offering quality riding on sustainable managed trail networks all over the UK.
In this prestigious anniversary year for Coed y Brenin we want to make it’s biggest and best loved MTB event, The Trek Coed y Brenin Enduro, the biggest and best yet.
This year’s route will offer a fine selection of trails, a mix of new and old, forest singletrack, natural and built trails. There will be spectacular open mountain scenery, old drovers roads and fast, swooping forest singletrack in what we feel is our best Coed y Brenin Enduro course to date. With testing 30km and 55km routes and the option to choose on route which distance you ride, you can find a challenge to suit you.
We are proud to announce the return of Trek Bikes as our title sponsor. Trek have supported the event since its conception and their partnership with Coed y Brenin’s trail head bike store Beics Brenin ensures one of the finest hire fleets of any trail centre in the UK. Trek will also be on hand over the event weekend with a well-stocked demo station packed to the gunnels with top quality mountain bikes for you to sample. We’ll post information of exactly what they’ll be bringing closer to the date but you can expect to see bikes like their popular Stache 29+, Fuel EX and Remedy.
And that’s just the beginning of what’s going on, Saturday will again see the return of our popular kids mini endure offering 5, 10 or 15km route options of increasing difficulty for young riders to tackle. It’s free to enter, just sign on on the day, you just need an accompanying adult, a suitable bike in good condition, helmet and clothing that’s appropriate to the weather. There’ll also be a little reward for all kids who complete their challenge successfully.
On hand too will be our friends from Muc-Off with their bike care station offering help, advice and top tips for keeping your bike running smoothly and looking it’s best.
Add to this a double bill screening of the Anthill Films NotBad and new Not2Bad movies and a few more extras that we’ll announce closer to the date and you’ve got a fine, fun packed weekend celebration of mountain biking on the UK’s best loved MTB trails. What could be a more fitting way to wish Coed y Brenin a happy 20th birthday.
Event entries are open now and you can also order a beautiful new event T shirt, designed by our friends at ThirtyTwoTrees and printed by howies on their top notch organic cotton heavy duty T.
