Shake off your winter slumber

The Fox Antifreeze returns to Coed y Brenin on the SATURDAY 14th MARCH 2026. The event is a great way to kick off your riding year with some great trails and good company. The event features a staggered-start making for a more relaxed atmosphere and giving riders a better chance to enjoy Coed y Brenin’s world-class singletrack. 

Riders will take on 1, 2 or 3 laps of a (roughly) 12km loop. The route is a hand-picked remix of Coed y Brenin’s finest trails. You don’t need to pick a distance before you start, simply ride 1,2 or 3 laps and your time is allocated appropriately. It’s a great way to ease into the year with a challenge that can be tailored to your riding ability and fitness goals.

The location: Coed y Brenin

The Uk’s original trail centre provides the perfect base for the event. It’s all weather trails provide superb riding year round.. Dive into the finest tree lined Snowdonia singetrack and take on challenging rocky descents. Coed y Brenin boasts a vast trail network with spectacular views of the southern Snowdonian mountains. NRW have sadly seen fit to close the visitor centre, but Beics Brenin, a  well stocked bike shop is open to cater for all your mountain biking needs. We will have onsite catering during the event for hot drinks and snacks.

Staggered Start Lap Challenge

The staggered-start format provides a relaxed and enjoyable event, reduces bottle necks on course and removes the stress of a single mass start. 

Choose your challenge

What’s your distance, 12km, 24km, 36km? Each lap of the course is around 12km and all riders get can choose their route distance on the day by simply riding 1, 2 or 3 laps of the course. When you finish and exit the course our timing system will allocate your lap times to the correct event distance category. 

E-Bikes

We welcome E-bikes at the Fox Antifreeze, but please note they must be UK legal, non-chipped or otherwise modified pedelec. When entering, make sure you purchase an E-bike ticket.

Be Nice, Say Hi! – We know e-bikes are awesome, they can make you like a feel like a superhero on the techy up down trails of Coed y Brenin, but remember, the Antifreeze is an inclusive event, please respect other riders, give people a heads up if you would like to pass, and leave plenty of room.

Start/Lap/Finish

With riders starting, lapping and finishing right in front of the visitor centre, directly below the cafe balcony. There’s music pumping and a real buzz of activity at the event hub with a great atmosphere as riders pass the timing point receiving encouragement from spectators and finishers as they choose whether or not to ride “Another lap?”.  

Come rain or shine, the trails are calling…

The event has seen all weather from glorious sunshine to snow but the sheltered treelined slopes and all-weather trails of Coed y Brenin Forest Park offer guaranteed MTB action. 

Whatever the weather, you can be sure of a warm welcome, great company, a relaxed atmosphere and world-class trails to ride. The event is a great way to start your MTB year so don’t wait too long if you are thinking of entering as its sold out all its entry places every year since it’s creation.

Sign-on location and times

These are still TBC. You will receive this info via email around a week prior to the event. We will also update this section once its confirmed.

Saturday  – Planned sign on opening times for the Fox Antifreeze are 9am to 11am

Sign-on usually takes place in the room above the bike shop but may take place outdoors if the weather is favourable. 

PLEASE NOTE – These times are provisional and will be confirmed in the entrant joining information that will be available around 1 week prior to the event.
